Business and branding ... without the burnout!

Many of us who have set up their own business or are dreaming of becoming our own boss, do so in part to improve our quality of life.

The reality is though that it's really bloody hard! Being the CEO, HR department, marketing manager, admin assistant and social media guru of your own company can be EXHAUSTING! Team that with a crowded market where being heard is near damn impossible and it's not surprising that many (budding) entrepreneurs' heads are in a spin! 

But it is possible to create a kick-ass brand and value-based business you're passionate about without burning out in the process and we're going to show you how! 


This event is perfect for anyone aspiring to take the plunge into self-employment; wanting to launch a start-up, but not sure where to start; or perhaps has their own business, but feels lacking direction or even overwhelmed!

We will spend a inspiring day in the company of like-minded people focusing on YOUR business and brand using a combination of tried and tested business and marketing concepts; alongside creative marketing approaches, content creation and story telling. Learn directly from a panel of entrepreneurs about the 'how to' of going out on your own, (with an honest pinch of reality), plus have your opportunity to pick their brains with your own business questions. 


And the best bit ... all of this underpinned by a mindful approach to business and an understanding that the work culture you adopt as an entrepreneur is a key part of your wellbeing ... and success. Oh and there'll be lunch ... it's all about the lunch! :) 

What we'll be getting up to?

Provisional programme:

8.30am: Coffee and arrivals

9.00am: Getting to know each other and your businesses / business ideas

9.30am: Value-based businesses = kick-ass mission led brands

10.00am: PANEL DISCUSSION / Q&A: how to launch a start-up and build a brand

11.00am: How to solve a problem like ...? Empathy mapping your target customer.

11.30am: Brand manifesto: what's your niche?

12pm: Lunch including time for professional headshot photography and 1-2-1 time with hosts.

1pm: Visual branding and storytelling: content creation activity to leave you set up for social.

2.30pm: Reflect your brand values in your work culture - looking after no. 1!

3.00pm: Mini-mastermind sessions

3.30pm: Wrap up session / Q&A

4pm: Home time :)

The Venue:

In the 2017 world of small enterprises and solo creative entrepreneurship, none of us need death by business boardroom and this is why this this why We Are Wellness, with the character and atmosphere of a beautiful old mansion, yet with a modern studio-feel due to the Scandi design vibes, is the perfect place to put your business ideas into practice. 


SO much more than a yoga studio, it feels much more like a home for wellbeing and creativity, in the broadest possible sense. As soon as you walk through that big old door, there's this overwhelming sense of calm and possibility, in a Narnia-esque way, and that's why it is the perfect space to ... well... create space in.


As well as taking over one of their light, bright studio spaces for the main workshop, we will also have use of a dedicated photography and content creation space, plus there are plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces to inspire you, regardless of the nature of your brand.

Creator of spaces, places and lovely times; entrepreneur; relationship builder; event manager; super organiser; host; marketing all-rounder; problem solver; copywriter; traveller; foodie and much more!

CIM qualified and with over 10 years’ experience in a broad range of marketing, communications and strategic management roles, I am currently living between Leeds in UK and the Canary Islands where prior to launching my company Answers On A Postcard, I spent the last 2 years as marketing lead for a leading European yoga and Pilates retreat company based in Fuerteventura.

When I'm not inspiring people to follow their dreams, I help start-ups and small businesses out of a hole in terms of marketing strategy and execution, events curation, copywriting & blogging, social media management and lots more!  My latest project is setting up career change / start-up camps in the sunshine, so watch this space to find out more ...

Helena Byles:

Co-founder of our beautiful venue We Are Wellness and owner / director of a total of 4 successful businesses (and counting!), plus a background in project management, Helena is no stranger to launching a start-up!

A health and wellbeing leader; wellness centre owner, teacher, TV Presenter and trail race organiser, she is one busy lady, but is still finding time to pursue her dream of spending 9 months a year in other places around the world whilst still making her businesses work. The learning she is taking from this journey is valuable to anyone who wants to love their work but avoid burnout.

The queen of content, Helena has recently launched a new enterprise helping other entrepreneurs and small businesses to create beautiful, effective content and we'll be finding out her secrets on the 12th November!

Andrew Critchett

Andrew is a street food pioneering, social media loving creative entrepreneur, who won Best Main Dish at the Independent's British Street Food Awards with his take on sustainable, contemporary fish& chips which he has taken to events, festivals and parties across the UK, including Glastonbury, The Grand National and a wedding in a field where the bride wore white and wellies.

Prior to the career change into food he amassed a lot of years experience in graphic design, branding and advertising, including as Creative Director for a number of prestigious advertising agencies and created the iconic hair styling brand GHD - it's fair to say that Andrew knows his shit!

Unfortunately he also knows only too well the damaging effects of reaching burn out and is currently raising awareness of mental health issues, in part through his involvement in social enterprise Growing Better, which has just raised over £20K on Crowdfunder to help its work supporting those suffering with mental health problems through a hydroponics urban farming site in West Leeds.

There's a chance he might have some new start up projects to talk about as well . . . .
